Beer Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average beer export price stood at $1.4 per litre in July 2023, declining by -1.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1.4 per litre; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2.0 per litre), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($765 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Paraguay (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average beer import price stood at $1.3 per litre in July 2023, growing by 4.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 41% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.4 per litre. From June 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($2.7 per litre), while the price for France ($922 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, overseas shipments of beer decreased by -6.2% to 1.8B litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5.2%. The exports peaked at 1.9B litres in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, beer exports dropped to $2B in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 8.5%. The exports peaked at $2.2B in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Beer Imports in the Netherlands
Beer imports into the Netherlands reduced rapidly to 459M litres in 2022, which is down by -24.2% against 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 5.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 605M litres, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, beer imports contracted to $509M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $595M, and then fell in the following year.
