Black Printing Ink Price in Ghana (CIF) - 2022
The average black printing ink import price stood at $6,403 per ton in 2022, rising by 5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,190 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($32,388 per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($1,137 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Black Printing Ink Price in Ghana (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average black printing ink export price amounted to $4,447 per ton, rising by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed moderate growth. The export price peaked at $8,167 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cameroon ($15,571 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($364 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cameroon (+33.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Black Printing Ink Imports in Ghana
In 2022, the amount of black printing ink imported into Ghana rose slightly to 135 tons, surging by 1.5% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 161 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, black printing ink imports expanded markedly to $866K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -6.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 69%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $922K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of black printing ink decreased by -33.2% to 463 kg in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 284% against the previous year.
In value terms, black printing ink exports stood at $2.1K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 341%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.1K; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
