Bovine Animals; Live Price in Iran (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average bovine animals; live import price amounted to $1,523 per unit, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, bovine animals; live import price decreased by -3.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 49% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($1,482 per unit), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($15 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of bovine animals; lives increased by 175% to 4.7K units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a dramatic contraction. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 39K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 117%. The exports peaked at 441 units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, bovine animals; live exports dropped to $362K in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.3% against 2019 indices.
