Bovine Animals; Live Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2023

The average bovine animals; live export price stood at $1,941 per unit in September 2023, falling by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 13% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,052 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Turkey ($1,268 per unit) and Israel ($1,219 per unit), while the average price for exports to Kosovo ($889 per unit) and Lebanon ($1,058 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average bovine animals; live import price stood at $1,017 per unit in August 2023, declining by -6.1% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,162 per unit in June 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Poland ($1,378 per unit) and Spain ($1,307 per unit), while the price for Latvia ($1,076 per unit) and Croatia ($1,101 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of bovine animals; lives decreased by -1.6% to 85K units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 110% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 87K units in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In value terms, bovine animals; live exports expanded markedly to $140M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 104%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
