Bovine Animals; Live Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average bovine animals; live export price amounted to $889 per unit, reducing by -12.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 11% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,037 per unit in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($1,289 per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($106 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average bovine animals; live import price amounted to $1,059 per unit, reducing by -9.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, posted a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 78% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,306 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,605 per unit), while the price for Slovakia ($711 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, exports of bovine animals; lives from the Czech Republic rose sharply to 259K units, picking up by 13% compared with the year before. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 259K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bovine animals; live exports rose remarkably to $242M in 2022.
