Breakfast Cereal Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average breakfast cereal import price amounted to $4,280 per ton, dropping by -10.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 9.8% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,153 per ton. From July 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($7,573 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Breakfast Cereal Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average breakfast cereal export price amounted to $5,541 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 35% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $6,429 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($7,923 per ton), while the average price for exports to Haiti ($561 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Breakfast Cereal Imports in the United States
Breakfast cereal imports into the United States rose sharply to 204K tons in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep setback.
In value terms, breakfast cereal imports expanded remarkably to $890M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Breakfast Cereal Exports in the United States
In 2022, shipments abroad of breakfast cereals increased by 2.1% to 130K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt setback.
In value terms, breakfast cereal exports expanded rapidly to $709M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
