Brewing Dregs Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2022
The average brewing dregs export price stood at $319 per ton in 2022, surging by 28% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, brewing dregs export price increased by +58.9% against 2017 indices. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $322 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Ireland ($368 per ton) and France ($357 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($253 per ton) and Spain ($278 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average brewing dregs import price stood at $135 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -17.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 129% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $250 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($181 per ton), while the price for Germany ($106 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Brewing Dregs Exports in the Netherlands
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of brewing or distilling dregs and waste decreased by -4.8% to 453K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 8.7%.
In value terms, brewing dregs exports surged to $144M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +57.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Brewing Dregs Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, purchases abroad of brewing or distilling dregs and waste decreased by -28.5% to 488K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 683K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, brewing dregs imports reduced sharply to $65M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $86M, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
