Broken Rice Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average broken rice export price amounted to $355 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 7.7% against the previous month. The export price peaked in July 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($362 per ton), while the average price for exports to Gambia totaled $340 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Broken Rice Price in India (CIF) - 2022
The average broken rice import price stood at $282 per ton in 2022, reducing by -33.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 67%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $908 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

For the fourth year in a row, India recorded growth in shipments abroad of broken rice, which increased by 17% to 4.2M tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 278% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, broken rice exports surged to $1.3B in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 285% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
