Broken Rice Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average broken rice export price stood at $772 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 25% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $788 per ton in June 2023, and then declined modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,329 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($719 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Broken Rice Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average broken rice import price stood at $446 per ton in July 2023, waning by -47.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 101% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $891 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($866 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Broken Rice Exports in the United States
For the third year in a row, the United States recorded decline in overseas shipments of broken rice, which decreased by -22.3% to 41K tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The smallest decline of -5.7% was in 2020.
In value terms, broken rice exports contracted to $27M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt curtailment. The smallest decline of -1% was in 2020.
