The average brown rice import price stood at $1,167 per ton in June 2023, dropping by -5.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, brown rice import price increased by +9.9% against February 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 28% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,234 per ton in May 2023, and then fell in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($1,628 per ton), while the price for Uruguay ($672 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
