Buckwheat Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
The average buckwheat export price stood at $875 per ton in 2022, increasing by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,533 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,001 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($320 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+61.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Buckwheat Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average buckwheat import price amounted to $1,380 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,531 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of buckwheat decreased by -34.3% to 227 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 391 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, buckwheat exports dropped modestly to $198K in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +25.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 92%.
