Butter Price in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022

The average butter import price stood at $4,989 per ton in 2022, dropping by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,926 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($8,333 per ton), while the price for Tunisia ($702 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Butter Price in Cameroon (FOB) - 2022

The average butter export price stood at $669 per ton in 2022, waning by -18.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,519 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($690 per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo amounted to $642 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Central African Republic (-3.6%).

Butter Imports in Cameroon

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of butter decreased by -83.9% to 112 tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a dramatic curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year.

In value terms, butter imports fell remarkably to $557K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 7.3%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.8M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Butter Exports in Cameroon

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,169% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, butter exports fell slightly to $4.7K in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant expansion.
