Canned Vegetable Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average canned vegetable export price amounted to $2,529 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% m-o-m. The export price peaked in September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,653 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average canned vegetable import price stood at $1,334 per ton in September 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 19% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,815 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($2,284 per ton), while the price for the UK ($687 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Canned Vegetable Exports in India
In 2022, shipments abroad of canned vegetables decreased by -3.5% to 24K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 28K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, canned vegetable exports shrank to $48M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 32%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $59M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
