Caramel Price in Azerbaijan (CIF) - 2022
The average caramel import price stood at $2,327 per ton in 2022, dropping by -8.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 96% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,431 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($16,398 per ton), while the price for Iran ($983 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+23.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Caramel Price in Azerbaijan (FOB) - 2022
In 2021, the average caramel export price amounted to $783 per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 199%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,234 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Denmark.
From 2015 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to +49.4% per year.
Caramel Imports in Azerbaijan
In 2022, approx. 183 tons of caramel were imported into Azerbaijan; increasing by 56% compared with 2021. In general, imports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, caramel imports surged to $427K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
