The average carbonates; potassium carbonate export price stood at $1,730 per ton in June 2023, waning by -5.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,332 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($3,206 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,040 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average carbonates; potassium carbonate import price stood at $1,673 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -26.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,272 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,374 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,044 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Carbonates; Potassium Carbonate Exports in Germany
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of carbonates; potassium carbonates, when their volume decreased by -18.9% to 33K tons. Overall, exports saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 41K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, carbonates; potassium carbonate exports surged to $59M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.5% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
