Catheter and Cannula Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2023
The average catheter and cannula import price stood at $1.4 per unit in September 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.6 per unit. From April 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10.0 per unit), while the price for Austria ($104 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Catheter and Cannula Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average catheter and cannula export price amounted to $2.9 per unit, picking up by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3.3 per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5 per unit), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($0.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Catheter and Cannula Imports in Switzerland
In 2022, overseas purchases of catheters and cannulae decreased by -8.2% to 642M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 724M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, catheter and cannula imports expanded slightly to $530M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, catheter and cannula exports surged to $253M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
