Cereal Germ Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
The average cereal germ export price stood at $670 per ton in June 2023, surging by 3.4% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 29% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $754 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($711 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy totaled $639 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cereal Germ Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average cereal germ import price amounted to $599 per ton, shrinking by -10.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $806 per ton. From January 2023 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Belgium ($634 per ton) and Austria ($583 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($436 per ton) and Slovakia ($557 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cereal Germ Exports in Hungary
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of cereal germ, when their volume decreased by -2.1% to 44K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 16% against the previous year.
In value terms, cereal germ exports soared to $30M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
