Cereal Germ Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average cereal germ import price stood at $591 per ton in August 2023, surging by 6.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 45% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,232 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Canada amounted to -3.8% per month.
Cereal Germ Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average cereal germ export price stood at $1,582 per ton in August 2023, growing by 7.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated slight growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, cereal germ export price increased by +142.0% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 124% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,952 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($2,063 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada stood at $1,548 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Trinidad and Tobago (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cereal Germ Imports in the United States
Cereal germ imports into the United States totaled 33K tons in 2022, growing by 7.2% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year.
In value terms, cereal germ imports surged to $26M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion.
