In July 2023, the average cereals; barley, seed export price amounted to $1,257 per ton, falling by -5.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 73% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,096 per ton. From June 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($7,180 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($910 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+23.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cereals; barley, seed import price stood at $623 per ton in 2022, rising by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $671 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($1,217 per ton), while the price for Romania ($120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Luxembourg (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
