In 2022, the average cereals; millet, seed export price amounted to $314 per ton, with a decrease of -45.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 89% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $573 per ton, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($984 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa amounted to $294 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of cereals; millet, seeds increased by 1,136% to 69 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a precipitous shrinkage.
In value terms, cereals; millet, seed exports soared to $22K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a significant decrease.

In the immediate term, the global buckwheat market may face a shortage due to an export ban introduced in Russia. The country, being the largest producer and exporter of buckwheat, restricted exporting unprocessed buckwheat, coarsely ground buckwheat groats, and crushed buckwheat grain from June 5, 2021, to August 31. Russia took this step to preserve the volumes of the buckwheat grain for its domestic consumption and prevent a spike in prices inside the country. China, Latvia and Ukraine featured the most prominent increases in imports from Russia in 2021.
