Cereals; Oats, Seeds Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average cereals; oats, seeds export price amounted to $1,321 per ton, picking up by 7.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 48% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,461 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,675 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($851 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cereals; oats, seeds import price amounted to $576 per ton, increasing by 5.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $804 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($4,535 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($532 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+23.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of cereals; oats, seedses decreased by -21% to 1.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.1K tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, cereals; oats, seeds exports shrank significantly to $1M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.4M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.8K tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, cereals; oats, seeds imports fell sharply to $779K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 69% against the previous year.
