The average cereals; rye, seed import price stood at $1,508 per ton in August 2023, falling by -6.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 283% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,614 per ton, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,203 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($1,073 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2023 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+74.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of cereals; rye, seeds increased by 313% to 921 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump.
