Cherry Price in Finland (CIF) - 2023
The average cherry import price stood at $5,328 per ton in August 2023, rising by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, cherry import price decreased by -31.1% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 37% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,729 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Greece ($5,644 per ton) and the Netherlands ($5,248 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,231 per ton) and Belgium ($4,577 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cherry Price in Finland (FOB) - 2022
The average cherry export price stood at $5,643 per ton in 2022, dropping by -6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price decreased by -5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,367 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($17,750 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia totaled $5,394 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+1.2%).
Cherry Imports in Finland
In 2022, overseas purchases of cherries decreased by -36.9% to 572 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year.
In value terms, cherry imports fell significantly to $2.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%.
