Chewing Gum Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chewing gum export price amounted to $6,862 per ton, shrinking by -19.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,901 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Fiji ($12,225 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Fiji (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average chewing gum import price amounted to $7,849 per ton, declining by -10.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 132% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $12,730 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($13,064 per ton), while the price for Bangladesh ($2,718 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Exports in Australia
In 2022, chewing gum exports from Australia reduced notably to 784 tons, which is down by -21.7% on 2021 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +40.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 79%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1K tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, chewing gum exports declined sharply to $5.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 67%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $8.5M, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
