Chewing Gum Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
The average chewing gum import price stood at $5,908 per ton in September 2023, declining by -25.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 56% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,193 per ton. From July 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Latvia ($16,991 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,994 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
The average chewing gum export price stood at $5,376 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -16.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, chewing gum export price decreased by -24.5% against July 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 50% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $7,528 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,370 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($2,564 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chewing Gum Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, imports of chewing gum into Lithuania soared to 498 tons, jumping by 45% against 2021. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, chewing gum imports soared to $2.6M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
