Chicken Egg Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average chicken egg import price amounted to $2,357 per ton, falling by -4% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,327 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($4,259 per ton), while the price for Albania ($1,116 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chicken Egg Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
The average chicken egg export price stood at $1,899 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 15% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,011 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($4,145 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($736 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chicken Egg Imports in Croatia
In 2022, the amount of chicken eggs imported into Croatia totaled 7.5K tons, growing by 14% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, chicken egg imports skyrocketed to $18M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, overseas shipments of chicken eggs decreased by -20.5% to 2K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 37%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chicken egg exports fell slightly to $4M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 25%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $4.8M.
