Chicken Meat Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average chicken meat export price stood at $1,933 per ton in July 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 3% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,191 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2,447 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($539 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In March 2023, the average chicken meat import price amounted to $2,956 per ton, increasing by 1.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 12% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,064 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to March 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Argentina.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Argentina amounted to +0.7% per month.
Chicken Meat Exports in Brazil
In 2022, the amount of chicken meat exported from Brazil dropped modestly to 4.4M tons, with a decrease of -4.3% against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 4.6%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.6M tons, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
In value terms, chicken meat exports soared to $8.7B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
