Chicken Meat Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average chicken meat import price amounted to $2,559 per ton, surging by 6.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,885 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,956 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($1,134 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chicken Meat Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average chicken meat export price amounted to $1,845 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, chicken meat export price decreased by -16.7% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 39% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,215 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($2,387 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($856 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of chicken meat into Hong Kong SAR shrank remarkably to 217K tons, reducing by -26.2% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a sharp curtailment.
