Chlorine Price in France (FOB) - 2023
The average chlorine export price stood at $450 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 12% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a prominent increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, chlorine export price increased by +108.8% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 26% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($1,255 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($164 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chlorine Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average chlorine import price amounted to $994 per ton, waning by -14.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 59% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,473 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,612 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($826 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chlorine Exports in France
For the third year in a row, France recorded decline in overseas shipments of chlorine, which decreased by -20.8% to 44K tons in 2022. In general, exports saw a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -2.3% was in 2021.
In value terms, chlorine exports dropped to $12M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 21%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $13M, and then dropped in the following year.
