Chlorine Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average chlorine import price stood at $1,369 per ton in 2022, rising by 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 67%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,685 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($4,081 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($648 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Jordan (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chlorine Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
The average chlorine export price stood at $8,992 per ton in 2022, rising by 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 105% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($19,241 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($879 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+60.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chlorine Imports in Uganda
In 2022, purchases abroad of chlorine decreased by -34.5% to 329 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 678 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, chlorine imports dropped sharply to $450K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $853K.
