Chlorosulphuric Acid Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average chlorosulphuric acid import price stood at $243 per ton in June 2023, rising by 22% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 114% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $415 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($674 per ton), while the price for Poland ($91.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Chlorosulphuric Acid Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average chlorosulphuric acid export price stood at $637 per ton in June 2023, waning by -3.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $843 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($795 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($581 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chlorosulphuric Acid Imports in Germany
For the fourth consecutive year, Germany recorded growth in overseas purchases of chlorosulphuric acid, which increased by 1.7% to 11K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.2% against 2019 indices. In value terms, chlorosulphuric acid imports shrank markedly to $2.7M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.5M, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
