Chocolate Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
The average chocolate import price stood at $4,993 per ton in July 2023, waning by -11.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 29% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $5,962 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,349 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($3,975 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chocolate Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average chocolate export price stood at $2,390 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 6.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 43% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,204 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($3,369 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($1,611 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate Imports in Brazil
In 2022, the amount of chocolate and other food preparations containing cocoa imported into Brazil contracted significantly to 2.1K tons, with a decrease of -16.3% against 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 44%.
