Chocolate Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021
The average chocolate import price stood at $8,265 per ton in December 2021, rising by 12% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,331 per ton. From August 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($10,077 per ton), while the price for the UK ($4,306 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chocolate export price amounted to $6,135 per ton, reducing by -20.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 72%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,727 per ton in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($21,587 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($4,462 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, purchases abroad of chocolate and cocoa products was finally on the rise to reach 24K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt decrease.
In value terms, chocolate imports soared to $133M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep contraction.

Chocolate Exports in Kuwait
In 2022, shipments abroad of chocolate and cocoa products was finally on the rise to reach 142 tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
In value terms, chocolate exports contracted to $871K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 16%.
