Circuit Breaker Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average circuit breaker import price stood at $8.6 per unit in 2022, increasing by 3.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 13%. The import price peaked at $18 per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($29 per unit), while the price for China ($3.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Circuit Breaker Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average circuit breaker export price stood at $27.5 per unit in September 2023, which is down by -7.4% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $36.4 per unit in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($80.1 per unit), while the average price for exports to Honduras ($5.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Circuit Breaker Imports in the United States
For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in supplies from abroad of automatic circuit breakers, which increased by 17% to 245M units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 71%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, circuit breaker imports surged to $2.1B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
