Cocoa Bean Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2022
The average cocoa bean import price stood at $9,303 per ton in 2022, which is down by -11.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 141% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,608 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($12,100 per ton), while the price for Poland ($5,465 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2022
The average cocoa bean export price stood at $15,494 per ton in 2022, reducing by -16.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $21,881 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($25,644 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($7,238 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Imports in Slovenia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of cocoa beans was finally on the rise to reach 19 tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced setback.
In value terms, cocoa bean imports rose slightly to $181K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +87.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 87% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
