Cocoa Bean Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022
The average cocoa bean import price stood at $5,590 per ton in 2022, rising by 106% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 112% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,884 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($8,186 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uganda (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022
The average cocoa bean export price stood at $3,097 per ton in 2022, falling by -21.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,224 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($3,285 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands totaled $2,839 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cocoa Bean Imports in the United Arab Emirates
In 2022, purchases abroad of cocoa beans decreased by -68.3% to 129 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 481%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 408 tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, cocoa bean imports contracted remarkably to $723K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 223% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.1M, and then fell significantly in the following year.
