Cocoa Butter Price in Austria (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average cocoa butter import price amounted to $6,551 per ton, growing by 2.3% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 12% month-to-month. The import price peaked in August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($19,376 per ton), while the price for Germany ($5,145 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Butter Price in Austria (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cocoa butter export price amounted to $7,411 per ton, with a decrease of -33.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 103%. The export price peaked at $11,208 per ton in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($16,248 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iran ($5,265 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Butter Imports in Austria
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of cocoa butter, when their volume decreased by -1.2% to 6K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 24%.
In value terms, cocoa butter imports dropped remarkably to $29M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year.
