Coconut Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
The average coconut import price stood at $1,129 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, coconut import price decreased by -6.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,202 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($3,105 per ton), while the price for Germany ($938 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coconut Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average coconut export price amounted to $1,285 per ton, increasing by 29% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,397 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($1,508 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($1,035 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Coconut Imports in Hungary
In 2022, overseas purchases of coconuts decreased by -36.5% to 145 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 12%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 300 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, coconut imports fell significantly to $164K in 2022. Overall, imports faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 29%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $361K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
