Coconut Price in Saudi Arabia (CIF) - 2022
The average coconut import price stood at $615 per ton in 2021, dropping by -5.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,121 per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($628 per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka amounted to $475 per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coconut Price in Saudi Arabia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average coconut export price amounted to $1,953 per ton, with a decrease of -5.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 56% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,067 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($4,995 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland amounted to $857 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Coconut Imports in Saudi Arabia
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of coconuts, when their volume decreased by -8.8% to 5.4K tons. In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +27.2% over the last two years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +61.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 77%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.9K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, coconut imports dropped to $3.3M in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.8M, and then dropped in the following year.

Coconut Exports in Saudi Arabia
In 2022, shipments abroad of coconuts decreased by -40.2% to 13 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 409% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 22 tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
In value terms, coconut exports reduced markedly to $25K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 666% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $45K, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
