In August 2023, the average coffee and tea import price amounted to $9,878 per ton, surging by 12% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($61,657 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($1,367 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coffee and Tea Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average coffee and tea export price stood at $8,214 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 12% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $8,286 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($12,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($3,363 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
