In 2022, the average coin import price amounted to $153,000 per ton, falling by -31% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $221,600 per ton in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($179,667 per ton), while the price for Togo amounted to $73,000 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+41.2%).

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of coins, when their volume decreased by -20% to 4 kg. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient increase.
In value terms, coin imports declined rapidly to $612 in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase.
