Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average combined refrigerator-freezer import price stood at $721 per unit in September 2022, reducing by -1.9% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable increase from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, combined refrigerator-freezer import price increased by +8.1% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $739 per unit in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to September 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,448 per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($451 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average combined refrigerator-freezer export price amounted to $365 per unit, which is down by -41.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 277%. The export price peaked at $624 per unit in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1,123 per unit), while the average price for exports to Maldives ($223 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Combined Refrigerator-Freezer Imports in Singapore
For the fourth year in a row, Singapore recorded growth in overseas purchases of combined refrigerators-freezers, which increased by 4.1% to 139K units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 9.8%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, combined refrigerator-freezer imports rose to $70M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
