U.S. Concrete Block And Brick Import Price in December 2021
In December 2021, the concrete block and brick price stood at $695 per ton (CIF, US), picking up by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $710 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to December 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($928 per ton), while the price for China ($547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Concrete Block And Brick Imports
In December 2021, approximately 5.1K tons of concrete blocks and bricks were imported into the United States; falling by -24.5% compared with November 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2021 with an increase of 164% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 7.3K tons in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, concrete block and brick imports shrank to $3.5M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2021 with an increase of 166% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 5K tons in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Concrete Block And Brick Imports by Country
In December 2021, Canada (3.3K tons) constituted the largest supplier of concrete block and brick to the United States, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete block and brick imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (886 tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Vietnam (470 tons), with a 9.3% share.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Canada stood at +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (+25.2% per month) and Vietnam (-3.0% per month).
In value terms, Canada ($2.3M) constituted the largest supplier of concrete block and brick to the United States, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($485K), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 12% share.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly growth rate of value from Canada stood at +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (+26.8% per month) and Vietnam (-0.1% per month).
