Confectionery Price in Saudi Arabia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average confectionery import price amounted to $4,528 per ton, with a decrease of -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,041 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,779 per ton), while the price for Bahrain ($1,504 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average confectionery export price stood at $3,012 per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 19%. The export price peaked at $3,019 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($10,358 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($1,423 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Confectionery Imports in Saudi Arabia
In 2022, purchases abroad of confectionery was finally on the rise to reach 159K tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
In value terms, confectionery imports contracted slightly to $721M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 0.7%.

Confectionery Exports in Saudi Arabia
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of confectionery increased by 4.1% to 41K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable decline.
In value terms, confectionery exports expanded to $124M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
