In 2022, the average copper; master alloys import price amounted to $11,272 per ton, falling by -9% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper; master alloys import price increased by +65.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 55% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,382 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($44,757 per ton), while the price for Spain ($8,830 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average copper; master alloys export price amounted to $6,555 per ton, which is down by -18.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 28% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8,883 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($12,832 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($4,994 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+19.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Copper; Master Alloys Imports in France

In 2022, the amount of copper; master alloyses imported into France fell significantly to 447 tons, declining by -17.7% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 9.3% against the previous year.

In value terms, copper; master alloys imports dropped notably to $5M in 2022. In general, imports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 69%.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 73%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $3.8M, and then declined notably in the following year.
