In February 2022, the average copper wire import price amounted to $10,162 per ton, surging by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $10,599 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to February 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Mexico ($11,069 per ton) and Spain ($10,397 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($9,875 per ton) and Russia ($9,877 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
