In August 2023, the average copper wire import price amounted to $8,971 per ton, increasing by 2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 9.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,721 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Turkey ($10,452 per ton) and Sweden ($9,580 per ton), while the price for Spain ($8,296 per ton) and Egypt ($8,955 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
