Copper Wire Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average copper wire export price stood at $9,237 per ton in August 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.3% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $9,718 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Slovakia ($9,734 per ton) and Austria ($9,326 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($8,883 per ton) and Romania ($9,157 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average copper wire import price amounted to $8,939 per ton, falling by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $9,694 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($10,651 per ton), while the price for Germany ($8,825 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 170K tons, leveling off in the following year.
