Copper Wire Price in Sweden (FOB) - 2023

The average copper wire export price stood at $8,315 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 8.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8,657 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($11,294 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($4,216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average copper wire import price stood at $9,584 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -5.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,183 per ton, and then declined in the following month.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($10,435 per ton) and France ($9,693 per ton), while the price for Italy ($7,435 per ton) and Denmark ($8,919 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
