The average copra import price stood at $3,571 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -17.2% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copra import price increased by +48.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 80% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,314 per ton, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

Copra Imports in Tanzania

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +40.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 75% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 35 kg, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, copra imports declined notably to $100 in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 215%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $151, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
